Abstract

Ahl-sunna wel-jama’at has a specific and recognizable method and rules which applies to studying shariah issues in general, and in particular to Aquida themes. They distinguish it from various sects and fractions. However, the method and rules that were obvious to the followers of ahl-sunna through generations are hardly recognizable today. In the previous Proceedings I explained some of the rules and here I explain the rest of them: Fifth rule: nonexistence of contradictories between the Revelation and reason. Sixth rule: Primary meanings (zahirun-nusus) of Qur’an and sunna quotations are understandable to those they are directed. Seventh rule: Believe in the obscure ayats and follow the clear ones. Eighth rule: Legitimacy of understanding Qur’an and Sunna by the first Muslim generations. These are the basic rules that reflect the precise methodology of researching Aquida themes at ahl-sunna wel-jama’at. I hope this paper at least partially clarifies this important issue.
